Ace Combat 7 How To Make Money
'Ace Combat 7' Guide: How Many Campaign Missions, How to Change Skins, Best Planes
Ace Combat 7 is here, so we've made a guide that answers some of players' most common questions after the opening hours. Want to know how many missions there are in the campaign or how to change skins? We've got you covered.
How many Missions Are There in the Ace Combat 7 Campaign?
The full Ace Combat 7 campaign features 20 campaign missions and three VR-exclusive missions. The plot follows a conflict between the Osean Federation and the Kingdom of Erusea. Trigger joins the war effort on behalf of Osea, but, over the course of the plot, public and character opinion shifts in the opposite direction. Like many Ace Combat stories before this one, the lore is pretty nonsensical. Luckily, it's backed by some of the best dogfights the series has ever seen.
How to Change Skins & Use Them in Campaign
Over the course of gameplay or as pre-order bonuses, you may earn skins for Ace Combat 7's various planes. However, in order to change them in the single-player campaign, players must beat the entire suite of 20 missions first. After that, skins become available as a plane customization options just like part upgrades.
Speaking with Producer Kazutoki Kono in mid-2017, Wccftech learned this choice was made to further immersion in the game's narrative. "The main campaign isn't going to feature much customization," Kono said, "partially because there is a story and narrative that we want to help preserve."
The Best Planes in Ace Combat 7
As most flying aces probably know, there is no single "best plane" when it comes to Ace Combat. Success in Ace Combat 7 revolves around choosing the right plane for the right time, which means the actual best plane for the job fluctuates heavily depending on what you're trying to accomplish.
With that in mind, it helps to have a basic understanding of the three plane classes featured in Ace Combat 7.
- Fighter: Fighters are designed to be fast and nimble, so they're best suited for any mission that requires quick action.
- Attacker: The roster of attackers is small in Ace Combat 7, but they're essentially for missions where your central goal is to take down a heavy target. They don't move fast, but they pack plenty of firepower with bombs designed to detonate large, ground objectives.
- Multirole: If you can't decide between the two extremes, Multirole aircraft act as a md-tier option. They're good when you need a little speed and a little firepower at once. With some of the best options, you can take down four or even eight targets simultaneously.
Selecting the best planes from these three classes is a process that will constantly evolve as skilled players spend more time with the game, but there are a few aircraft worth a shoutout at this early stage.
Fighters
- F-16C: With its four target-to-air missiles, Guided Penetration Bomb and short-range aerial missile, this is the best fighter to start with. It's versatile and fairly powerful.
- MiG-29A: Deeper in the Aircraft Tree, this plane has high-power air-to-air missiles, land-attack ground missiles and four air-to-target missiles. Overall, it gives you a bit of a boost when taking down more mobile targets.
- Typhoon: The Typhoon is further down the tree, but it features long-range air-to-air missiles, eight air-to-ground missiles and a high-capacity air-to-air missile. It offers the advantage of taking down a huge amount of targets at once.
Attackers
- A-10C: With its Unguided Bomb, rockets and four air-to-ground missiles, this is a must-have for destroying all manners of ground targets.
- Su-34: For something a bit different, this plane has self-forging fragments submissions, high-capacity air-to air and four air-to ground. If the mission has some faster air objectives mixed in, this may be a more dependable bet.
Multirole
- F-35C: True to its class, this plane can destroy eight ground targets or four air ones.
- Gripen E: This plane supressess aerial targets over short ranges while also having six air-to-air missiles. On the land side, its Land Attack Cruise Missile makes ground targets quiver in fear.
Despite how good these planes are, though, they won't get you through the entirety of Ace Combat 7's 20 campaign missions. Every good pilot should study the full Aircraft Tree, and we've got the full graphic of it here.
That's all you need to know to get started with Ace Combat 7. Take to the skies and destroy those targets.
Ace Combat 7 is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
